GTA 6 Won’t Be a Next-Gen Launch Title, but It Will Come Shortly After

Grand Theft Auto 6 might release sooner than you think. A group of financial analysts from Intrepid Capital Funds predicts the title will launch shortly after the launch of next-generation consoles.

For once, we have some GTA 6 news that isn’t a baseless rumor. This claim is based on the financial predictions of Take-Two, the franchise publisher.

If true, we would likely see Rockstar’s latest release in 2021, which is just around the corner. That said, we have no proof backing this up. But this is more believable than a random post on 4Chan.

GTA 6 Is More Likely Than Ever

Chances are we do not see GTA 6 in 2020. Next-generation consoles might even get delayed to next year. However, a 2021 release isn’t ridiculous.

Let’s look at the facts. Red Dead Redemption 2 released in 2018. Rockstar has that and the uber-popular GTA Online to manage. Otherwise, they have to be putting all of their manpower into whatever the next GTA will be.

Keep in mind that coronavirus has hit the stock market hard. Take-Two is performing okay, but the company still answers to shareholders. You can be sure those investors are pushing for a price boost during these uncertain times. GTA 6 is the way to do that.

Also, GTA 6 is the perfect play to push consumers into next-generation consoles. Remember, GTA 5 released right before the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 dropped in 2013. Rockstar shortly released “remastered” versions compatible with that generation. It sold like hotcakes.

It Could be a True Next-Gen Experience

But, considering next-gen will be backward compatible, Rockstar can’t profit from two versions of the game this time. This means they’re likely to go all out on GTA 6, instead of an “upgraded” edition built for a previous console generation.

Much like how Half-Life: Alyx is the best way to entice new virtual reality owners, GTA 6 can convince gamers to upgrade their console.

On the other hand, the next Grand Theft Auto could be forever away, and they’re working on a Bully 2 instead. That’s the only acceptable alternative.
